Toys before Family

July 12th, 2010 at 09:30 pm

This is a subject that really ticks me off. People who buy toys and crap they don't need before taking care of their family. I personally know somebody who does this. He lives with his "girlfriend" if thats what you want to call it. Barely will ever help pay for anything for the house. Does not take care of his responsibilities. But always has plenty of money to buy stupid movie action figures. Yeah thats what I said. Action figures.

Talk about a boy living in a mans body. How is it that people can be so irresponsible?

Remember you can always buy toys and fun stuff but only after you have taken care of your responsibilities first.

I've seen that happen, too. So incredibly selfish. Sadly, I've also seen mothers be so immature, then ask someone else to take up the slack/ buy the groceries/ pay the electric bill or gas bill/ pay the rent, etc.

I completely agree. I see friends do that to significant others. AND I've seen parents do that to their kids. Stuff should not be more important than family/loved ones.

I know a couple who say they can't afford to buy their 6 year old son a $30 scooter for his birthday (he wants it so bad and doesn't have many toys or clothes) yet they can fly off the vegas for a week. Huh???

I totally agree! I know a couple who spend all their money on alcohol and cigarettes and god knows what else, and then depend on their friends to give them hand-me-downs to clothe their children and get donations of food from LifeLine, and they don't have jobs and are on benefits. Seriously! It annoys the crap out of me, especially when I have other friends who are also on benefits but are still able to actively seek work AND feed and clothe their children and are able to survive at least slightly comfortably. GRRR.

The thing that gets me is that said irresponsible person wants YOU to help him out or worse thinks that YOU are the problem. I know people like this, and I've worked through my emotions about them. I've determined that I don't care how the adults live, just don't even ask to borrow money from me and especially DON'T sneer at me for having an emergency fund.
